Lead TeacherThe Lead Teacher, under the supervision of the Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a developmentally based, educational program for an assigned classroom of children. The curriculum must meet the emotional, physical, cognitive, and social needs of both the individual child and the group.
Plans lessons and learning opportunities aligned with the Ohio Early Learning Development Standards and Ohio K-12 standards appropriate to the development level and individual needs of each child based off formal assessments and screenings throughout the year
Responsible for the implementation of daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to the Weekly Lesson Plan Read each individual child’s files in his/her class and is knowledgeable about their medical and developmental histories in assigned classroom and ensures that all necessary precautions and actions are taken
Submits a written lesson plan weekly to the Program Coordinator for prior approval. Teaches children according to approved instructional program at a rate and level that is complementary with expected progress of each child
Informally evaluates children, maintain anecdotal notes, checklist, running records, and time samples.
Keeps a “portfolio” of each child’s progress in classroom, including photographs, samples of their artwork, etc… Meets with parents to discuss child’s progress and to provide counsel and advice when appropriate. Supervises, trains and utilizes Co and Apprentice Teacher’s (and volunteer’s) skills and abilities.
Works with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere. Responsible for the maintaining adherence to all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements in assigned classroom.
Maintain a suitable learning environment that encourages critical thinking through use of stimulating questions and ideas. Utilize a variety of methods and materials. Participates in staff development activities, parent education and parent involvement activities.
Continues ECE or related field education at an accredited College/ University.
Follows Chain of Command.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Starting Point Learning Center reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
-GED/High school Diploma (Degree in ECE and experience preferred)-Non-Conviction or guilty plea to any crimes outlined in division (A) (5) of section 109.572 of Revised Code -Three References
