The undergraduate Education division in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has a long-standing tradition of preparing experts in education through constructivist, progressive and cutting-edge approaches to teacher education. For over 100 years, the Division has developed strong partnerships with school districts in urban and suburban communities within eastern Massachusetts where education majors complete teaching internships during the four years of their undergraduate program. We currently offer 10 majors: Early Childhood Education; Special Education; Elementary Education; Middle School Education (General Science; English; Mathematics; History/Political Science) and Secondary Education (Mathematics; English; History/Political Science). The early childhood program is based on a constructivist approach to teaching and significantly incorporates the philosophy and practice of the Reggio-Emilia approach to early education. The Lesley University undergraduate early childhood program is a national leader in the Reggio-Emilia approach, offering a yearly Reggio-Emilia inspired Institute and workshops for pre-service and in-service teachers.
The Education division in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Lesley University is seeking a full-time, 9-month faculty member in Early Childhood Education. Responsibilities of the position include: (1) teaching courses for undergraduate students in Education; (2) supervising student teachers; (3) advising undergraduate students; (4) participating in course development; (5) developing teaching-research collaborations with area schools; (6) engaging in research; (7) contributing to the development of inclusive curriculum, assuring the cultural competence of Lesley students and preparing education students to meet the needs of a diverse PreK-12 student body; (8) participating in program development, assessment, and review in the division; (9) participating in service to the division, college, and university.
Compensation commensurate with experience.
