McLean School (www.mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a Lower School, long-term, part-time (70%), substitute Art Teacher to begin September 2017 until January 2018. McLean School has, for sixty years, been helping students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. We embrace both traditional learners and ones with mild to moderate learning challenges. Many of our students excel in some areas while benefiting from support in others.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual arts, and have relevant teaching experience. He/She will have general knowledge of art history, art-making techniques, critique, and aesthetics. He/She will be able to work collaboratively with Lower School Faculty and other Art Teachers. Responsibilities for this position also include attendance at regular department, division, and faculty meetings; supervision of a daily lunch table; and rotating recess and dismissal duty. This position is from 10:30 am to 3:15 pm.
In addition, the ideal candidate must be able to teach a broad range of learners, including those with mild to moderate learning challenges and ADHD.
