Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School invites applications for a 60% (3 sections) position as a teacher of AP U.S. Government and AP Comparative Politics in the Department of History and Social Sciences for the 2017-2018 academic year. Located in Washington, DC, and founded in 1799, Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School educates young women in grades 9 – 12 in a faith-centered community focused on educational excellence and rooted in the Roman Catholic faith and Salesian tradition.
Successful candidates should have a strong academic background in government and political science, as well as broad preparation in history and the social sciences and the flexibility to accommodate evolving department needs. Previous teaching experience, along with energy, enthusiasm, and a desire to communicate and work with young women are required. An advanced degree and experience with the Advanced Placement program are preferred. Candidates must also be willing to work closely with departmental colleagues in a collaborative setting. Availability to participate in meetings, professional development, and chaperoning responsibilities outside of school hours is required.
