We have immediate openings for motivated Program Coordinators at our Recreation Centers, including the brand new Dulles South Recreation Center, located in South Riding, VA and at Claude Moore Recreation Center located in Sterling, VA. Since 1966, Parks, Recreation and Community Services has worked to meet our citizens' needs for recreation and leisure opportunities and supportive community services. As a Program Coordinator you will oversee and supervise various program areas such as Licensed Programs, Recreation Programs and Building Services, supervise staff and volunteers, and manage facility operations in the absence of the facility manager. Your management skills will be used to oversee and supervise center users, recruit and recommend for hire program staff and ensure a clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment, as well as manages automated tracking and reporting of registrations, payments and budgets. You will use your creativity and marketing skills to oversee the development and implementation of programming, ensuring quality and diverse programs, and create marketing materials to promote programs and special events. With a customer service focus you will resolve customer issues, answer questions and handles customer concerns. Light maintenance tasks, such as room set up and clean-up are required. The Licensed Program Coordinator will have responsibility over Licensed Child Care programs and will ensure excellent child care programs and State Licensing Requirements are met. As the Recreation Programs Coordinator you will have primary responsibility over the Recreation and Fitness areas and ensure quality and relevant programs to meet citizens’ expectations. The Building Services Coordinator will have responsibility for Front Desk, Customer Service and other building services such as building contacts to ensure customer safety and satisfaction. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education or related field. Two years’ experience in community and group recreational activities, including six months supervisory experience preferred. Virginia state licensing requires 6 months experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities. Valid Driver’s License required. Certification in First Aid, CPR for adult, infant and child and negative TB test result required prior to beginning work. Membership in the Virginia Recreation and Park Society professional organization is beneficial to the position. Membership in the National Association for the Education of Young Children is beneficial to the position. Preferred certifications include HVAC, Aquatics Facility/Pool Operator, Medications Administrations Management (MAT), First Aid and CPR Instructor certification, Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Criminal background, Child Protective Services (CPS) checks, credit history and DMV check are required.
